"I built Ted because a contractor friend of mine was writing off $15k a year in forgotten invoices. This is the tool I wish existed."

Sound familiar?

You do great work. Getting paid for it shouldn't be this hard.

You finish the job, then wait 60 days for a check

You held up your end. Now you're the one sending awkward follow-up emails weeks after the job wrapped.

Keeping track of who owes what is a part-time job

Spreadsheets, sticky notes, mental lists. Something always slips through the cracks.

Calling customers about money feels uncomfortable

You want to keep the relationship good, but you also need to get paid. An automated reminder keeps it professional and impersonal.

Accounting software is overkill

QuickBooks wants a bank connection, a subscription, and an accountant. You just want someone to remind your customer to pay their bill.

How it works

Three steps and you're done. Ted handles the rest.

1

Add your invoice

Enter your customer's name, email or phone, the amount owed, and the due date. That's it.

2

Ted watches the calendar

Every day, Ted checks your invoices. When one goes overdue, it automatically fires off a polite reminder by email, SMS, or both.

3

Mark it paid

When your customer pays, mark the invoice paid in Ted. Reminders stop instantly. On to the next job.

Here's what your customer receives

Short, professional, and on your behalf. No awkward phone calls.

Email reminders

Professional reminder emails sent automatically on your behalf. Your customer gets a clear, polite note with the amount owed and how to reach you.

SMS reminders Coming soon

Text messages get read. When email isn't enough, Ted will send a short, direct SMS to your customer's phone. SMS is pending carrier approval during beta and will be enabled once your account is verified.

Invoice dashboard

See all your open invoices in one place. Know at a glance who owes you, how much, and how overdue they are.

Contact management

Save your repeat customers so you're not re-entering their info every time. Build your list as you go.

No integrations required

You don't need to connect a bank account, sync with QuickBooks, or touch anything in your existing workflow. Just add invoices manually. Takes 30 seconds.

Works for any trade

Plumber, electrician, HVAC tech, landscaper, roofer, painter. If you send invoices and wait to get paid, Ted is built for you.

Help me help you

Ted handles the follow-up. You handle the work. Here's how we split the job.

You do this

  • Add an invoice when the job is done
Name, email or phone, amount, due date. Takes about 30 seconds.
  • Keep your customer's contact info current
If their email or number changes, update it so reminders land in the right place.
  • Mark invoices paid when the check clears
One click stops the reminders. Clean and simple.

Ted does this

  • Checks your invoices every day
No weekends off. Ted runs daily and catches anything that's gone past due.
  • Sends reminder emails on your behalf
Polite, professional, and automatically timed so you don't have to think about it.
  • Follows up with a text if needed
SMS cuts through when email doesn't. Coming soon. SMS will be enabled once your account is verified.

Common questions

When will SMS reminders be available?

SMS is coming soon. Carrier approval is still in progress during the beta period. Once your account is verified, SMS reminders will be enabled automatically. No action needed on your end.

Do my customers need to sign up for anything?

No. Your customers just get an email or text. There's no portal, no login, and nothing they need to install. They read the reminder and pay you however they normally would.

How do I record a payment?

When a customer pays, log into Ted and mark the invoice as paid. Reminders for that invoice stop immediately.

Do I need to connect my bank or accounting software?

No. Ted doesn't connect to anything. You manually enter invoices (takes about 30 seconds) and Ted takes it from there. No QuickBooks, no bank link, no setup headache.

What does the reminder message say?

Ted sends a short, professional reminder that includes your business name, the amount owed, and a note to reach out with any questions. It's polite but clear.

What happens after the beta?

Ted will move to a paid plan at some point, but beta users will get advance notice and fair pricing. Nothing changes without you knowing first.

Is this only for contractors?

It's built with contractors and tradespeople in mind, but any small business that sends invoices and waits on payments can use it.

No suggestion is too small. Feature requests, workflow ideas, things that bug you. All of it is useful.
